Happy Birthday, LeAnne!

It's Monday, but we're not showcasing Merry Monday Christmas cards! We're hosting a Surprise Birthday Hop for our fellow papercrafting friend and Merry Monday Design Team member, LeAnne Pugliese!  Happy Birthday, LeAnne! I hope you have the most fabulous birthday ever!

LeAnne loves blue and flowers, so I created a simple card using lots of blue and flowers stamped to create a background!  I enhanced the centers of a few of the flowers with adhesive rhinestones to add a little sparkle in honor of the special occasion!

PPA166 Color Challenge

What a fun Color Challenge (PPA166) we have for you at Pals Paper Arts this week!  The PPA Resident Artists are working with this fresh and fun color trio shown below.  I hope you'll join us for this challenge!

I love all three colors in the trio and they work so well together!  My card for the challenge is super easy to make and could really work for any occasion!  The modern design uses a mix of patterned papers, a stamped and punched sentiment and an added floral embellishment that really adds an extra pop to the overall look!  It's a quick card to put together and so bright and cheerful!  I hope you like it as much as I do!

PPA Color Challenge (PPA162)

Happy 4th of July to you and yours!  Our challenge at Pals Paper Arts this week is for you to use Pacific Point, Real Red and Crumb Cake (or similar colors) to create a card.  I hope you'll get out your supplies and join us!

Nautical is so on trend right now!  You'll see it everywhere; in clothing, home decor, party themes and even paper crafting.  Bold stripes are the perfect backdrop for showcasing the red and white life preserver embellishment.  An added banner allows you to customize this card for any occasion.  I think it would really make a great summer party invitation!  What do you think?

A New Sketch at PPA

A New Color Challenge at PPA

We have a new Color Challenge (PPA160) for you to try at Pals Paper Arts!  We're working with a beautiful color combo of Primrose Petals, Gumball Green and Whisper White!

My card for the challenge is clean and simple and features pretty punched flowers and leaves.  These were easily made using various punches, then added with dimensionals and adhesive to hand-cut stems.  Finishing touches include a band of patterned paper, hand-drawn detailing and a fun sentiment.  Anyone would love to receive this cheerful thank you card!  I hope you like it as much as I do!  Please let me know what you think and leave a comment below!

PPA138 Color Challenge

We have a new Color Challenge (PPA138) at Pals Paper Arts using Daffodil Delight, Early Espresso, and Cherry Cobbler! 

The inspiration for this simple card came from a card created by Nichole Heady.  It features elements and a quote from two of my favorite sets.  The options for working with this color combo are many, so I hope you'll get out your supplies and join us for the challenge!

PPA137 Sketch Challenge

We have a Sketch Challenge (PPA137) at Pals Paper Arts for you to try this week!  I designed this sketch using two circles that can be used to feature focal images, embellishments, or sentiments!  The possibilities are endless!  For my get well card, I was inspired by the circle flower design found on the Summer Smooches DSP.  Flower stems were hand-cut and punches were used to create the flowers and leaves.  I love the summery mix of Tangerine Tango, Real Red, Daffodil Delight, and Lucky Limeade together!  A happy combo indeed!

PPA136 Color Challenge

It's Thursday and time for another Color Challenge (PPA136) at Pals Paper Arts!  This week we're challenging you to use the versatile color combo of Real Red, Night of Navy and Whisper White!  This trio would work for so many different types of cards, especially Father's Day or Fourth of July.

My patriotic card was made with no particular event in mind, but it would easily make a fun invitation for a Fourth of July party or also work as a birthday card for any age or gender!

PPA103 - A Simple Sketch Challenge

We have another Simple Sketch that I've designed for you for this week's sketch challenge (PPA103) at Pals Paper Arts!  Sketches are always a great starting point when making a card!  If you're familiar with my sketches, you know I try to keep them very simple and basic.  I don't believe in dictating where every element should be placed on a card.  I think that should be left up to you and your creativity!  I give you the basic layout so you can add your buttons, your ribbon, your sentiment, etc. exactly where you want them!

PPA102 - It's Summertime and the Livin' is Easy!

Summer is definitely upon us and this week's challenge at Pals Paper Arts is in honor of Summer (PPA102)!  Draw inspiration from our cool photo (below) or from whatever says summer to you!  I can just hear Ella Fitzgerald singing Gershwin's "Summertime" now!

As much as I wanted to make a card using the photo for inspiration, the fact remains that I live in Texas and living through a Texas summer is never easy, even for a native Texan!  Summers in Texas are HOT and humid and the colors that first come to mind when I think of summer are orange (like FIRE) and yellow (like the HOT Texas sun)! 

This gave me the opportunity to use one of my favorite floral patterned papers from the Beyond the Garden DSP and the coordinating Fabulous Florets stamp set.  The floral design of this pretty patterned paper is quite involved, so I kept the overall design of the card simple and clean.  The summer colors of orange (Tangerine Tango) and yellow (Daffodil Delight) look great with green, so I threw in a little Pear Pizzazz to remind myself of what green looks like in my drought-ridden environment!  And, the green looks much prettier on my flower than brown!
