PPA204 Sketch Challenge

Get out your stamps, card stock and patterned paper and join us for the Sketch Challenge (PPA204) at Pals Paper Arts this week! I've designed a simple sketch that gives you a great space for stamped images, as well as the perfect space for showcasing a bit of designer paper! Remember, with a sketch, nothing is set in stone! A Celebration at Pals Paper Arts

We're celebrating at Pals Paper Arts this week with our 200th challenge!  In honor of this momentous occasion, we're offering participants a chance to win each of the featured cards created by the PPA Resident Artists (20 cards in all)!  Visit the PPA blog to see the wonderful cards the Resident Artists created and get all the details on the giveaway and how to play along!

To commemorate our 200th challenge, each Resident Artist chose a Stampin' Up! color to create a monochromatic card, using the featured sketch I designed for the challenge.  I love bright, bold colors, so Crushed Curry was my color of choice! I layered the sentiment from Starburst Sayings and I think it looks fabulous against the polka dot and chevron patterned papers.  This warm and sunny card is sure to make any recipient smile!  I hope you agree and will let me know what you think by leaving me a comment below!

PPA196 Sketch Challenge

PPA192 Sketch Challenge

There's a new Sketch Challenge (PPA192) at Pals Paper Arts this week!  I hope you'll consider joining us and play along!  When you start out with a sketch, the hardest part is done for you!  All you need to do is choose a color scheme, your card stock, papers and embellishments!

I used Stampin' Up!'s Geometrical set and Kaleidoscope DSP to create my card!  I really love the bold, graphic style of this stamp set and the bright, vivid colors of the papers in the DSP pack.  They're both just perfect for making a "just because" card to brighten someone's day!

PPA188 Sketch Challenge

It's time for another Sketch Challenge (PPA188) at Pals Paper Arts, hosted by the Resident Artists of Team 1!  I think you'll like the versatility of the simple sketch I've designed for you this week.  I hope you'll get out your papercrafting supplies and join us for this challenge!

I created a clean and simple card that showcases one of the papers available for free during Stampin' Up!'s upcoming Sale-A-Bration promotion (January 28 - March 31, 2014).  I chose colors used in the paper for my punched flower (Summer Starfruit, Whisper White and Crisp Cantaloupe) and die cut leaves (Pool Party and Pistachio Pudding).  I really love the contrast of the colorful paper and the flower against the soft Sahara Sand card base!  Pool Party was used to stamp and stack the sentiment, adding a subtle presence and balance to the overall layout.  Fresh, modern and fun!

PPA184 Sketch Challenge

We have a new Sketch Challenge (PPA184) for you this week at Pals Paper Arts!  I hope you'll be inspired to get out your supplies and join us for this challenge!  This versatile sketch can easily be dressed up or down to work for any occasion!

I created a clean and simple graduation card for a family friend who recently graduated from The University of Texas at Austin!  UT's colors are burnt orange and white, so Cajun Craze and Whisper White worked perfectly for this collegiate color scheme.  In place of the sketch's circle element, I used a large star from the Simply Stars set. The image is a perfect iconic symbol for Texas, the Lone Star State.  A smaller star was added to the center and embellished with a small colored rhinestone to add a bit of sparkle.  I really like how it turned out and I hope you do too!

A New Sketch at PPA

It's time for a new Sketch Challenge (PPA180) at Pals Paper Arts!  I hope you like the sketch I designed for you and will give it a whirl!  Half the planning is done for you when you start with a sketch!  

I used the sketch to create a happy and bright birthday card that would work well for any age or gender!  The candles were made by rolling strips of patterned paper around my retired paper piercing tool.  If you don't have one, a pencil or wooden dowel will do.  Flickering flames were embellished with Stampin' Write Markers and added to each candle with a dimensional.  I think this fun card would make any one smile!  Please let me know what you think by leaving a comment below!

New Sketch at Pals Paper Arts

I think you'll love playing with the sketch this week at Pals Paper Arts!  It has so many possibilities, so I hope you'll give it a try!  Be sure to visit the PPA blog to see what our Resident Artists have done with it too!

Since Halloween is just around the corner, I decided to create a Halloween card! I had no Halloween-themed paper on hand, so I used black and white chevron patterned paper for my background and card stock in traditional Halloween colors to make my diagnoal element on the card.  This made the perfect backdrop for featuring the sentiment, which was stamped, snipped, punched and layered to give it some dimension and presence.  A punched layer of Old Olive behind the stacked sentiment adds interest and eye-catching color.  This card looks complicated, but it's not.  It comes together rather quickly and the results are bold, graphic and fun!

PPA172 Sketch Challenge

We've got a great sketch for you to play with at Pals Paper Arts this week!  Please join me and my fellow Resident Artists at PPA and give this sketch a try!

I believe in making beautiful designer paper work for you and Afternoon Picnic DSP does just that on this card!  I love all the different colors in the patchwork pattern and it looks so striking matted in Crushed Curry on a base of Coastal Cabana.  I used the diagonal gradient stripes pattern to create the three horizontal bands.  Using three different colors instead of one creates interest and draws your eye in to the focal point, the simple punched circle with the stamped sentiment and added flower embellishment. The clean, open white space of the circle and the visible band of Coastal Cabana around the perimeter helps balance out the mix of patterns and keeps them from being too overpowering.

A New Sketch at PPA

It's time for another Sketch Challenge (PPA168) at Pals Paper Arts!  I think you'll be inspired by this simple sketch I've designed for you and hope you'll be inspired to get out your papercrafting supplies and create a card!

This sketch is great for featuring your favorite paper and some eye-catching elements!  Punched flowers in clean Whisper White really pop against the patterned paper background.  A bit of greenery adds more contrast to the color scheme, while keeping the overall look soft and pleasing to the eye.  The stamped sentiment and flower centers in Summer Starfruit really draw your eye in and pull everything together.  Simple yet easy and elegant!
