It's Another Merry Monday

It's Monday and that means we have a new challenge at Merry Monday for you this week! Lesley has challenged us to use music or lyrics to a Christmas song on our cards this week!  I made a clean and simple card using minimal supplies featuring the Merry Little Christmas set from Stampin' Up!  This set worked perfectly, since the sentiment is from the song Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas, one of my holiday favorites.

New Sketch at Pals Paper Arts

I think you'll love playing with the sketch this week at Pals Paper Arts!  It has so many possibilities, so I hope you'll give it a try!  Be sure to visit the PPA blog to see what our Resident Artists have done with it too!

Since Halloween is just around the corner, I decided to create a Halloween card! I had no Halloween-themed paper on hand, so I used black and white chevron patterned paper for my background and card stock in traditional Halloween colors to make my diagnoal element on the card.  This made the perfect backdrop for featuring the sentiment, which was stamped, snipped, punched and layered to give it some dimension and presence.  A punched layer of Old Olive behind the stacked sentiment adds interest and eye-catching color.  This card looks complicated, but it's not.  It comes together rather quickly and the results are bold, graphic and fun!

Blog Candy Winner

My favorite thing to do in the Fall/for Halloween is our annual family Halloween dinner. We have it at a super fun restaurant that is decorated inside and outside. We refer to our annual dinner as 'Eat, drink, and be scary.

My card for you this week is super simple and could be easily mass-produced.  I love the look of the white punched snowflakes against the soft Pool Party background!  I added a rhinestone to the center of each snowflake to complement the vertical border of Basic Gray and Silver Glimmer.  A seasonal sentiment stamped in Basic Gray adds the perfect final touch!  Clean, simple and elegant!

New Challenge at Merry Monday

Christmas is just 78 days away!  Can you believe it's that close?  If you haven't started making your holiday cards, now is the perfect time to get started and join us for our new challenge this week at Merry Monday!  Our challenge is hosted by the talented Lesley Croghan at Always Playing With Paper. For our challenge this week, Lesley wants us to use a bird on our Christmas card!  Here's our lovely inspiration photo:

My card features a single white dove created with a little help from the Bird Builder Punch from Stampin' Up!, some Multi Purpose Adhesive and a few dimensionals.  It was really quick and easy to put together and I love how it looks against the Basic Gray background! Nothing more is really needed except the perfect sentiment, stamped and heat embossed in white.  Clean, simple and elegant!  I hope you like it as much as I do!

Color Challenge at PPA

It's time for a new Color Challenge (PPA174) at Pals Paper Arts!  Get out your supplies and join us for this challenge! You may use any brand of papercrafting supplies to create your card.  Take a look at the beautiful palette of fall colors the PPA Resident Artists are working with this week!


I decided to keep it simple and create a card with minimal layers that could be easily mailed with no extra fuss.  I pulled out Summer Silhouettes, a set normally used for Spring or Summer themed cards, and challenged myself to make it work for Fall. 

I really like the contrast of the Baked Brown Sugar base with Pumpkin Pie and Pear Pizzazz!  It acts as a neutral and makes Pumpkin Pie and Pear Pizzazz really stand out!  Candy dots in Pumpkin Pie simulate berries and create dimension.  A simple scored strip of Pumpkin Pie becomes faux ribbon and adds an additional pop of color and linear balance to the overall look.  It's a quick and easy card to make, uses minimal supplies and can be adapted for any occasion!
