Summer is definitely upon us and this week's challenge at Pals Paper Arts is in honor of Summer (PPA102)! Draw inspiration from our cool photo (below) or from whatever says summer to you! I can just hear Ella Fitzgerald singing Gershwin's "Summertime" now!
As much as I wanted to make a card using the photo for inspiration, the fact remains that I live in Texas and living through a Texas summer is never easy, even for a native Texan! Summers in Texas are HOT and humid and the colors that first come to mind when I think of summer are orange (like FIRE) and yellow (like the HOT Texas sun)!
This gave me the opportunity to use one of my favorite floral patterned papers from the Beyond the Garden DSP and the coordinating Fabulous Florets stamp set. The floral design of this pretty patterned paper is quite involved, so I kept the overall design of the card simple and clean. The summer colors of orange (Tangerine Tango) and yellow (Daffodil Delight) look great with green, so I threw in a little Pear Pizzazz to remind myself of what green looks like in my drought-ridden environment! And, the green looks much prettier on my flower than brown!
Leave a comment and tell me what's your favorite thing to do during the lazy days of summer! Then get out your supplies and get started on your summer-inspired card! For more summer inspiration, click here to see what the PPA Design Team and this week's guest artist have created! In the meantime, I'm staying inside where it's cool, hoping the AC holds out, and praying for rain!
All supplies are Stampin' Up!, unless otherwise noted:
Stamps: Fabulous Florets
Paper: Daffodil Delight, Tangerine Tango, Whisper White card stock; Beyond the Garden Designer Series Paper
Ink: Pumpkin Pie, Daffodil Delight, Pear Pizzazz
Tools: 3/16" Corner Punch, Paper Snips

This says summer to me ... love it! On of my favorite flower sets! It's quite hot and humid here in the great state of Alabama, so I like to stay inside in the afternoons and play in my craft room with my glass of peach tea!

Pretty card, it reminds me of summers we should have instead if the miserable ones we do have. . I live in Texas also. This summer I have spent most of the time inside working on cards, or other crafts. And trying to stay cool.
