A New Sketch at PPA

It's time for a new Sketch Challenge (PPA159) at Pals Paper Arts!  Sketches are a great starting point for creating a card because the hardest part of what to put where has been decided for you!  All you have to do is decide on your color scheme and what elements you are going to use!  Keep it simple or make it elaborate!  The possibilities are endless! 

Even though I featured vintage themed papers from the Story Time DSP pack, this card is definitely clean and simple!  I love the papers from this group because they remind me of the Dick & Jane readers I learned to read from in elementary school!

PPA Sketch Challenge

We have a new Sketch Challenge (PPA157) for you at Pals Paper Arts!  Get out your card making supplies and join us for this challenge! 

I turned the sketch sideways and used fun patterned papers in Tangerine Tango, Rich Razzleberry and Lucky Limeade from the Summer Smooches DSP pack for my card.  I love this fresh and vibrant color combo!  The flowers were made using punches, brads and a Stampin' Write Marker.  The offset chevron patterned DSP in Lucky Limeade is mimicked in the placement of the leaves on the flowers.  A sentiment was stamped and punched to create a tiny tag, then tied on with a bit of Baker's twine.  This happy card makes me smile and I hope it does the same for you!

New Color Challenge at PPA

It's time a a new Color Challenge (PPA156) at Pals Paper Arts!  For this challenge, we're working with Certainly Celery, Bashful Blue and Marina Mist!  I used this Springtime color palette to create a contemporary card that is soft yet bold and graphic.  This was a super simple card to put together and would work for any occasion.  I hope you like it as much as I do!

A New Sketch at PPA

We have a new sketch (PPA155) for you to try at Pals Paper Arts this week!  I really think you'll like it because it offers so many possibilities!  I hope you'll play along with us!

My card features a gathering of punched flowers with small dahlia embellishments for centers.  The flowers coordinate with patterned paper banner strips from the Print Poetry and Patterns Stack- In Colors 2012-2014 DSPs.  A simple sentiment was added using a Stampin' Write Marker and dimensionals were used to add extra depth and height.  The sketch made this clean and simple card come together quickly!  I hope you'll give it a try!

PPA154 Color Challenge

Get out your stamps, paper and scissors and join us for a new Color Challenge (PPA154) at Pals Paper Arts!  Our color palette for this challenge is Raspberry Ripple, Calypso Coral and Crumb Cake (use similar colors if you don't have these exact colors)..  There are so many possibilities for this color combo! 

My clean and simple thank you card features a single flower from the Fabulous Florets set.  I stamped the flower twice in Calypso Coral, then added shading using Raspberry Ripple.  I snipped and layered the bloom to give the flower some dimension and depth.  I love the way Calypso Coral really pops when paired with Raspberry Ripple and Crumb Cake!  The combination really makes the flower blossom!  For a finishing touch, I used Linen Thread to add a bow to the Whisper White panel to give it balance.  It complements the Crumb Cake base and creates some linear interest, helping it to stand out against the bands of color in the background.  This simple layout would work for any occasion by simply changing out the sentiment.  So easy and so simple!

Super Simple Thank You Cards

 

I thought I'd share some super simple thank you cards with you today!  They're quick and easy to make because of their clean and simple design!  I used brightly colored patterned paper to create a decorative band across the bottom of the card.  Coordinating card stock was stamped with a sentiment and enhanced with a floral embellishment that was created with punches and decorative brads.  If you have extra patterned paper, add it to the flap of your envelope for the perfect finishing touch!  This is a great way to use up scraps of designer paper and extra embellishments in your stash!  Let me know what you think! Exciting News and Merry Monday Challenge #44

 

I am excited to let you know you'll see more of me in 2013 because I've joined the Merry Makers at the Merry Monday Challenge!  I was so honored when Lesley Croghan asked me to join the design team for 2013 and more than thrilled to be working with such a talented and inspiring group!  Lesley is the host for this weekly challenge on her Always Playing with Paper blog, offering you fun inspiration for creating a Christmas card!  Participate every week and you'll have all your holiday cards completed and ready for mailing in December!  What could be better than that?!!

Lesley is mixing things up for 2013 with some exciting changes to the challenge, starting with a color challenge for the New Year!  Future challenges will vary (no longer just sketches), so I hope you'll join us each week to find out what's new and get a jump start on your Christmas cards for 2013!  Here are your colors to work with for this week:

 

My card for the challenge is clean and simple and so very easy!  I wanted to create a contemporary design that could be easily mass produced and required minimal supplies.  If you like that idea too, then this card should work for you too.  Let me know what you think!  I think it's fresh and fun and I hope you do too!

PPA143 Sketch Challenge

We have a new Sketch Challenge (PPA143) at Pals Paper Arts and we hope you'll join the fun and play along!  This sketch is super simple was designed for showcasing a beautiful designer paper or some wonderful stamped images!  I really hope you'll give it a try!

For my masculine card, I chose to stay fairly true to the sketch and show off a great map patterned paper!  Maps are really trendy right now in cardmaking and scrapbooking!  I kept everything simple and clean to highlight the beauty of the map and the gorgeous colors in the paper!  This card is a perfect example of making the paper work for you!  A sentiment from the Word Play stamp set is the perfect complement for this DSP and features a separate stamped and snipped image of the world popped up with a single dimensional!  A quick and easy card that requires very few supplies!

PPA135 Sketch Challenge

It's time for another Sketch Challenge (PPA135) at Pals Paper Arts!  I've designed a simple sketch for you to use to create your card for this fun challenge!  Turn the sketch sideways, upside down, or use it as is!  The possibilities are endless!

My happy and cheerful thank you card uses three of my favorite products from Stampin' Up! that are retiring at the end of this month, the Thank You Kindly stamp set, the Blossom Bouquet Triple Layer Punch, and Poppy Parade card stock!  I love all the different flower combinations you can create with the punch!  So fun and so cute!  I will miss all of these versatile items and plan to keep them in my stash for future use!  If you like my card, please leave me a comment!  I always enjoy hearing from you!

A New Color Challenge at PPA

Our last Pals Paper Arts challenge was a sketch challenge, which means it's time for a new Color Challenge (PPA134) at PPA!  For this challenge, we're using a Springtime-fresh color palette of Calypso Coral, Baja Breeze, and So Saffron! Calypso Coral looks darker in the photo of my card than it really is. It's a difficult color to photograph.

Using this combo was truly a challenge for me, as they are not colors I'm typically drawn to.  However, I'm happy with the results of my clean and simple card and think I might just use these three colors again sometime!  If you like my card, please leave me a comment!  It's always great to hear what you think!
