PPA153 Sketch Challenge

We have a new Sketch Challenge (PPA153) at Pals Paper Arts for you to try!  Our Resident Artists have been busy creating papercrafting works of art using the featured sketch as a starting point!  We hope you'll give the sketch a try and play along with us!

When it's time to wrap up and keep warm or take a lazy, mid-afternoon nap, my covering of choice is always a quilt!  Playing with the Honeycomb embossing folder and the mix of patterned papers to create the background, reminded me of the many colorful, hand-pieced quilts my great-grandmother lovingly made for my family when I was growing up!  To complement the multi-colored hexagonal pattern, I added color coordinated papers, a stamped flower embellishment and bit of Baker's twine!  Eventhough it took some time to snip out all those hexagon pieces, it was a lot of fun!  I hope you like my card as much as I do!

Baby Card for Friend

The design for this cute onesie card by Lauren Meader has been around for quite some time in the papercrafting world!  I needed a card for a special friend who is expecting her very first baby in May!  Can you tell by the print pattern and colors what she's having?  If you guessed a girl, you're right!  I'm terrible about making a card to give away and forgetting to photograph it before doing so.  I had some extra time to snap a shot of it and post it to share!  This design is fun to make using solids or different patterned prints and can easily be adapted for a boy or a girl!  Enjoy!

PPA141 Sketch Challenge

It's time for another Sketch Challenge (PPA141) at Pals Paper Arts!  I hope my sketch and my card will inspire you to play along with us at PPA! This sketch is great for showing off a mix of some of your favorite patterned papers, so pull out a few and see what you can come up with! 

My card features the trendy color combination of yellow and gray and showcases a mix of patterned prints in Basic Gray.  I did some stamping and snipping to create a modern floral graphic that has a gallery feel.  The sunny yellow and white polka dotted pattern really pops against the gray leafy foliage.  I love how it turned out!  I hope you like it too!

PPA140 Color Challenge

 

We're hosting a new Color Challenge (PPA140) at Pals Paper Arts and we hope you'll join us and play along!  Our cheerful colors for the challenge are Summer Starfruit, Marina Mist, and Real Red! 

I created tiny pinwheels for a fun banner to showcase the colors in this happy color trio!  The banner takes the stage against the newsprint background paired with strips of brightly patterned prints of DSP.  I had no ribbon in blue that would work for a bow, so I created my own from matching DSP in Marina Mist. For the finishing touch, I embellished the bow with a Real Red button threaded with Baker's Twine.  Fun and easy!

This Congratulations card is headed to a special friend who recently celebrated some remarkable career accomplishments!  I hope she will like the card!  I love the way it turned out and I hope you do too!  If you like my card, please leave me a comment!  I always love hearing from you!

PPA111 - Sketch Challenge

It's time for another Sketch Challenge (PPA111) at Pals Paper Arts and the sketch I designed for this week's challenge offers endless possibilities!  I chose to play around with the Big Top Birthday DSP for my card and ended up with this fun congratulatory card that could be adapted for almost any occasion!

PPA96 Celebrity Color Challenge

Pals Paper Arts is hosting a Celebrity Color Challenge with a masculine theme (PPA96) using Cherry Cobbler, More Mustard, and Night of Navy and featuring Guest Artist, Tanya Phillips!  It's the perfect opportunity for you to get a jump on creations for upcoming events such as graduation, Father's Day, or the Fourth of July!

Today's card can work for any occasion and features a smart trio of stars created with punches!  Patterned paper was adhered to card stock first before punching to add depth and more body. Orienting the stripes diagonally adds visual interest, making the stars really "pop" against the neutral background of polka dots!  Simple brads added to each center provide the perfect finishing touch!

PPA58 - Pretty in Pearls

There's nothing more simple yet so elegant than a gorgeous strand of pearls!  This week at Pals Paper Arts, we're hosting a Clean and Simple "Elements of Style" challenge (PPA58) and pearls are our featured fashion element!  My creation for this week's challenge is definitely "clean and simple" (CAS) with a touch of vintage elegance!  Minimal supplies were used to make this card and, best of all, it was quick and easy to make!  I adhered three strips of vintage-style papers to my base that, when grouped together, create a contemporary feel.  Tiny pearls were added to the pink strip on the right to highlight the designs of the patterned paper.  The clean lines of the modern-style sentiment really "pop out" against the added pearls and stamped images both above and below the sentiment, resulting in a contrasting yet cohesive focal point.  The results?  An unusual mix that works!  Fresh, fun, simple, and elegant!

PPA40 - A Tribute to Blue

We're showcasing BLUE at Pals Paper Arts this week with a Monochromatic Challenge (PPA40)!  Today's card features one of my favorite blue shades from Stampin' Up!, Ballet Blue!  It also features stamps from not one, but five different stamp sets by Stampin' Up!  Wondering where I got those matching star buttons?  I made them myself using a Circle punch, some adhesive, the smallest stamp from the Seeing Stars set, and a paper piercing tool!

PPA39 - KISS Challenge

It's Thursday and that means it's time for another challenge at Pals Paper Arts!  PPA is hosting a KISS Challenge (PPA39) this week and we want you to "play along" with us!  KISS stands for "Keep It Simple, Sweetie" and challenges you to use less not more when making your card!  The following are suggested guidelines for creating a KISS card:

• Clean with lots of white space
• Simple Designs
• Minimum time to create
• Limited layers and embellishments

Graduation is just around the corner and today's "Quick Card" was easy to make using my own sketch plus versatile punches and a coordinating stamp set!  Minimal stamping was involved and added extras include matching grosgrain ribbon and a little added "bling", resulting in a very smart looking card!  My fresh and modern color palette of Whisper White, Basic Gray, Going Gray, and Crushed Curry is courtesy of this week's Curtain Call Color Challenge {Act 26} hosted by Stacey Schafer at Stacey's Stamping Stage!  I've been following this color challenge for quite some time and I'm thrilled I was able to find some time to participate in this week's challenge!  Visit Stacey's blog for more inspiring card ideas using this fun color combo!
