Tag! You're It! - PPA125

A handmade tag adds an extra special touch to any gift, so I hope you'll join us for our "Tag! You're It! Challenge (PPA125) at Pals Paper Arts this week!  Make one, two or more for those last-minute packages at your house or make a few to stash away for next year! 

My Crumb Cake tag features a pretty sprig of mistletoe that was made using the Little Leaves Sizzlits die. Each leaf was rounded off with scissors to create a more authentic look.  A score line down the center of each leaf creates a vein and adds dimension.  Add a few berries, a pretty bow, and a stamped sentiment and you're good to go!

A Simple Sketch Challenge

I've designed a "Simple Sketch" (PPA124) for you to try for this week's challenge at Pals Paper Arts!  A sketch makes a great starting point and nothing is "set in stone"!  Flip it, turn it, or use it just as it is drawn!  Dress it up or down!  The choice is yours!

I used dies, a punch, and adhesive rhinestones to create my red and white flurry of flakes that are featured!  The seasonal sentiment was stamped and punched out, then embellished with a few blingy berries and leaves!  The embossed snowflake background in Lucky Limeade is the perfect contrast to the band of red and white striped ribbon!  Cheerful, bright, and fun!

PPA122 - Celebrity Color Challenge

We're hosting a Celebrity Color Challenge (PPA122) this week at Pals Paper Arts featuring the talented Canadian stamper, Angela McKay!  We asked Angela to use the seasonal color trio of Cherry Cobbler, Always Artichoke, and Very Vanilla to create a card for the challenge!  This is the perfect color combo for making cards for the upcoming Christmas season!

For the challenge, I created a border of holiday greenery using the Little Leaves Sizzlits die adorned with a few punched berries.  I stamped a neutral toned strip of embossed houndstooth (love this pattern) with watermark ink to enhance the texture!  Matching seam binding ribbon (even though it appears very red in the photo) tied in a simple bow adds the perfect finishing touch!

PPA121 - CAS Elements of Style Challenge

It's Thursday and this week's challenge at Pals Paper Arts is a CAS "Elements of Style" Challenge (PPA121) using PEARLS!  My card features a single snowflake enhanced with a bit of glitter and a handful of polished pearls!  The non-traditional color palette offers a fresh and contemporary change from the usual holiday colors!  In keeping with the challenge, the layout is clean and simple, yet very elegant!

PPA119 - Holiday Theme Challenge

At Pals Paper Arts this week, we're hoping you will join us for a Holiday Theme Challenge (PPA119)!  We're featuring papercrafted creations for the upcoming holiday season from the PPA Design Team and this week's featured artsit, Joan Norris! 

I picked a few elements from the inspiration photo at left to work with for the challenge.  My Christmas card  features sprigs of berry-laden greenery against an embossed houndstooth background!  Basic black and white paired with traditional seasonal colors of red and green make a crisp and clean statement!

Belated But Quick Christmas!

Happy New Year, everyone!  I can't believe 2009 passed so quickly and we're off and running with 2010!  I don't know about you, but Christmas really caught me off guard in 2009!  It came and went very quickly at my house and I truly couldn't keep up with the usual busy, bustling pace of the holiday!  I did get a chance to make a few cards for some special family members and I wanted to share one with you that I made for my nephew, Cas.  A clean and simple sketch was used to feature retro-style prints from Stampin' Up!'s Holiday Lounge Designer Series Paper package.  The great thing about this sketch is that it could easily be adapted for any occasion or event, but the best part is the fact that it's quick and easy!

I've used three of my favorite stamp sets to create this bright and cheerful holiday  set using a non-traditional color combo of Real Red, Kiwi Kiss, and Pink Passion.  I created my own snowflake print designer paper using card stock and the snowflake images from the Best Wishes & More and Christmas Punch sets to create my Christmas card, gift card holder, and treat box.  Snowflake embellishments were stamped in all three colors, snipped out, then enhanced with adhesive rhinestones to add a little holiday bling. Coordinating ribbons are tied on both the Christmas card and gift card holder, adding the perfect balance of color and a stylish finishing touch!

No Stamping Required

Save your ink!  No stamping required on this fun and festive holiday card!  I actually made this card for last week's Pals Paper Arts color challenge (PPA15) using Ruby Red, Basic Gray, and Taken with Teal.  I was so busy last week, I didn't get it posted before the deadline!  I realized it would work for this week's Christmas Cheer theme challenge (PPA16) and decided to share it with you today!  I used my creative license to substitute Real Red for Ruby Red and used my Big Shot, a snowflake Sizzlits die, a few punches, a rub-on sentiment, some shiny rhinestones, and a print from the Holiday Lounge Designer Series Paper pack to complete the entire look!  Clean, simple and ever so festive!  Spread some of your own holiday cheer and make a card to share for PPA16!
